What I Know About Him:
Kickers are always the hardest to preview. “What do I know about him?” He’s a kicker. He kicks the ball. “What do I expect from him?” Ball-kicking.
Last year, as a freshman, Zalewski came out of camp as the kickoff guy and the #2 kicker. Then starter Nick Immekus got hurt three games in, and Zalewski handled both for seven games before Immekus returned. This spring, Immekus left the team and Zalweski is now the guy.
The highlight of his freshman year: a 54 yard field goal against Purdue. He finished 4-7 on field goals on the year.
What I Expect From Him:
With Zalewski, it’s never been a question of leg. He can boom it. The reason Immekus beat him out last year was accuracy. Immekus was much more accurate for the mid-range kicks, so Immekus won the job.
And… that’s all I have for Zalewski. Kick the ball down to the other end of the field. When required, kick the ball between the two big posts. And if he could work in the first college drop kick in years, that’d be cool.
