Robert, as I've said a number of times before, you've forgotten more about football than I'll ever know and maybe because of that you seem to really like to pull in football analogies into basketball. So, here's a swap for you.
This game reminds me a lot of the 2017 Illinois vs New Mexico State basketball game. The Illini with a new first year coach lose to NMSU 74-69 and you just couldn't seem to let it go.
What if this is the football team's equivalent to the '17 basketball team's loss to the Aggies 74-69? The Aggies went 28-5(12-2) in the regular season (won the WAC conference championship) and were a much better team than you ever gave them credit for. The Illini basketball team had a first year coach and was working hard to get its footing and find and identity (oh, how's that going by the way?).
You predicted 4-8 for the season. If this is the worst loss Illinois football has all season they're probably still going to hit your prediction (or maybe better).
As iluvrt says, "I'm good. On to the next one."
