I think a great example of this can be found in the NFL media coverage of Devon Witherspoon. He's been climbing up rankings and draft boards because these tv scouts and analysts actually started watching film of him instead of just "oh he's Illinois' one good player; put him late first round". Now he has been skyrocketing due to people "uncovering" video of him actually playing football.
