Found It

The best part of being a Nervous Game Watcher is that when the victory is secured, there's an emotional rush like you wouldn't believe. The "I no longer need to be nervous and I can just let it all out" moment is so, so great. We'll be up 8 with a minute to go, I'll still be nervous and unwilling to open the release valve, and then we'll hit a three, the other team will miss a shot, and we'll reach that "they're not going to foul" moment. When we reach that moment, all of the steam comes out. I could sell it as a drug.

The "they're not going to foul" moment tonight was so incredible. I'd love to know what happens physiologically. A triple dose of endorphins? Some kind of serotonin thing? Whatever it is, it is a high.

And I needed that high. As I wrote this morning, I had been struggling to find it in Milwaukee the last two days. I wanted that Omaha/Boston feeling. I got it tonight. It's the best first round feeling I can remember in a long time. Let's see if I can make that make sense.
