Giving Thanks

Giving Thanks
Holly Birch-Smith - IlliniBoard

I have two friends from Arkansas (Hot Springs, not Little Rock) who say the word Thanksgiving wrong. They say THANKSgiving, not thanksGIVing. I never let it slide and always correct them. "Where are you going for THANKSgiving this year?" "I don't know about THANKSgiving, but I'm going to my mom's house for thanksGIVing."

With ThanksGIVing on Thursday, and with the students home on ThanksGIVing break, and with my son making the blasphemous request that we have ham for ThanksGIVing this year instead of turkey (he'll have turkey at the early meal at his girlfriend's family's house and wants ham for the late meal), I have ThanksGIVing on my mind. So given my current exhausted state, I'm going to write about what's on my mind (ThanksGIVing) as I tell you about the basketball game tonight.
