Hi Hunter

I was eating lunch at Big Ten Basketball Media Days in 2021 when I overheard some reporters talking about what Hunter Dickinson had said about Illinois fans. Something about how Illini fans "think their team is a powerhouse" or something. I quickly searched Twitter to find out what he had said.

I just looked it up again, and here's what he said:

“I don’t want to say it. Ah, I’m going to do it. I’m going to do it, Eli. They got me. They just act like they’re some powerhouse in the Big Ten and they’re really not. ... I think their fans are kind of annoying.”

Several months later he was asked to clarify his thoughts on Illinois fans, and he said this:

"I think that quote got a little miscontrued. The players aren't that bad. I'm cool with Kofi. I don't really know Curbelo too much but he seems cool. It's really their fans. They just act like they're some powerhouse in the Big Ten and they're really not. I mean they're one of the best teams in the Big Ten now. ... I think their fans are kind of annoying. You know, obviously some fans are kind of... Michigan State, you're gonna get a lot of hate from them. Ohio State, not too bad. But Illinois' fans, they are just pretty annoying. I'm not gonna lie."

(Yes, I'm aware that Hunter plays for Kansas now. This is going somewhere, I promise. I have a very important point to make.)
