Seven Seconds

Think back to when Brad Underwood was hired. Josh Whitman fired John Groce and held the "if we're not careful..." press conference, we were still playing in the NIT with Jamal Walker as the head coach, and Whitman snuck down to Oklahoma and stole Brad Underwood away from an Oklahoma State AD who had promised to "take a look at" Underwood's paltry $1 million salary in a few weeks. After only one year in Stillwater, Underwood was headed to Champaign.

Now think about Underwood's introductory press conference. Remember what he talked about? Remember what we were all talking about? We were talking about his Oklahoma State offense. #1 in KenPom during that 2016-17 season. The takeaway after the press conference: this is a coach who wants to score in the first seven seconds of the shot clock.
