I just want to make sure that everyone is leaning into 8-3. Appreciating what it means. Pondering how we got here and where we're going. These are the days, people.

Take Mississippi State. 23 months ago we played an 8-4 Mississippi State team in the ReliaQuest Bowl. Today, they're 2-9 (0-7 in the SEC) and we're 8-3. They had a horrific thing happen just before that bowl game (the death of their head coach), they bungled the interim-to-full-time coach process, and now they're dead last in the SEC looking up (way up) at Vanderbilt.

Take Wisconsin. They're 5-6 and need to beat Minnesota on Saturday to make a bowl game. They last missed a bowl in 2001 (that Brandon Lloyd catch not only won us that game, it prevented Wisconsin from bowling). In the last four regular seasons (bowl results excluded), Wisconsin and Illinois are both 26-21.

Think about that! The previous 25 seasons before 2021:
