This was fun. I joined Loren Tate on the radio yesterday for 12 minutes. So obviously he owed me 89 minutes of podcasting - one minute for every year he's been on this earth. He just turned 89 the other day, so we talked about that, his long history of covering the Illini, the current football mess, and the best Illini basketball players he's seen over the years.

Excellent work. That was a fun listen and, like him or not, Loren is still sharp as a tack.

Awesome interview. Doesn't get any better than you and the Legend sittin' around talking Illini sports. Do it again!

Thank you for this podcast for us old guys growing up reading Loren Tate to follow Illini sports. A lot of history with Loren... Good and bad... And a great interview to keep up with him and pass along history to this fan base.

THIS......................IS......................A..................CLASSIC!!!

Just a fantastic interview/discussion, Robert. Thank you.

And I have to add this bit of color: Given that I've generally lived 1000 miles from Champaign-Urbana since graduation in the early 1980's, my recent Go-To "happy place" after a tough work week has been the Saturday Sports Talk podcasts with Loren Tate & Steve Kelly. Loren will never be topped. He is the absolute authoritarian on Fighting Illini sports. Loren always provides an exceptional historical (and balanced) perspective, inclusive of (1) Dick Butkus and Lou Boudreau on the front-end, (2) Ayo Dosumu and Jeff George on the back-end, and (3) everything in between. Bravo!!!
